TE FARE O TAMATOA ("The House of Tamatoa")
We are non-profit organization comprised of members of all ages who share a love for Tahitian drumming, dance, music, history and culture. We teach Tahitian dance and drumming, with an emphasis on traditional style, to anyone who is interested in learning!
By popular demand, we are hosting our second Tahitian cultural workshop! We are offering multiple workshops to accomodate people of all experience levels.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE **Arrive 15 minutes prior to YOUR class**
12:00 - 1:30pm | Drumming
1:30 - 3:00pm | Level 1 Dance (female/male)
3:00 - 4:30pm | Level 2 Dance (female only)
Drumming - Ages 10+. No experience required. Drums provided.
Level 1 Dance - Ages 10+. Little to no Tahitian dance experience required for vahines/females. All levels of Tahitian dance experience for tanes/males.
Level 2 Dance - Ages 10+. Vahines must have 2+ years of Tahitian dance training or equivalent. Workshop will cover basics to help improve and strengthen overall technique.
DANCE ATTIRE
Females wear fitted athletic attire and a pareu/sarong if you have one. We will also have pareus for sale ($15-$35). Males wear athletic shorts (no pants) and a shirt. Also, don't forget to bring water, snacks and a sweat towel.
